In the Community
St. Matthew Lutheran Church annually participates in a number of community-sponsored events in the Barrington-area. Listed below are some recent examples of the church's community involvement:
Barrington Fourth of July Celebration
St. Matthew enters a float in the parade each year and has won several awards from the Parade Committee. Last year, the Board of Evangelism distributed water bottles along the parade route.
Barrington Freedom Festival
Members of St. Matthew are actively involved with the Barrington Freedom Festival which honors the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces.
The Caring Tree
During the Christmas season, members of St. Matthew donate toys, gifts and cash to people that are in need. All items that are collected as distributed by the Salvation Army.
Barrington Sidewalk Sale Days
In addition to sponsoring a booth at this annual event in late July, St. Matthew has provided free snow cones to the event participants.
